On World Lab Day, we celebrate the crucial role of laboratories in research, analysis and innovation. But not all laboratories are the same: experiments, process controls, quality controls, tests and measurements are carried out or chemical materials are processed and chemical products are manufactured in a wide variety of specialised laboratories. Medical laboratories have become increasingly important since the coronavirus pandemic.

Our focus is primarily on water analysis – an area that is essential for our survival and the environment.

Precisely analysing water samples helps to identify pollutants, ensure drinking water quality and protect our ecosystems. Especially in times of climate change and increasing scarcity of resources, laboratories are the key to new solutions. They help to make clean water globally accessible and to develop long-term strategies for environmental protection.

Even if our laboratory may not seem quite so spectacular, it is nevertheless of enormous importance for our customers, partners and the population – because clean drinking water is the basis for our daily lives and health.

Last year, around 14,000 analyses were carried out in our laboratory in Ebersbach. The samples analysed include drinking water, bathing water, process water, well water, waste water and products that come into contact with drinking water. One focus of drinking water analysis is testing for legionella – tiny bacteria that can cause pneumonia under favourable conditions. However, testing drinking water for pharmaceuticals and pesticides is also part of our daily work.

All analyses are regularly checked by internal quality controls. In addition, Team Umweltanalytik GmbH participates in Europe-wide round robin tests from France, Germany and UK. This guarantees the high standard of our laboratory in Ebersbach.

Today’s world would be inconceivable without the complex analyses and new developments. Let us use today to honour the importance of the laboratories and continue to support their work. Together for a healthy future! 💧
